1. Place an alias to StayUP in "Startup Items" folder.
2. Launch StayUP to create folder called "StayUP Items Folder" located in the
"Preferences" folder.
3. Place all those items which you want running at all times into the "StayUP Items Folder"
4. Achieve inner peace. (Well maybe not number 4.)
Information/Explanation:
Here is the deal. To operate, StayUP up needs a folder located in the Preferences folder called "StayUP Items Folder" henceforth referred to as "the folder". If the folder does not exist StayUP will create it for you.
Within this folder you the user place applications or aliases to applications that you want to be active at all times (eg: web server, database server, ftp server, dinner server, etc.). StayUP will check at regular intervals to see if these applications are running. If they are not running, StayUP will launch them in the background.
The default time between checks is set to 120 seconds, or two minutes for those of you who are mathematically challenged. You can change this to a different time if it suits your needs. Every two minutes seems to be a good time to me, but if you feel you know better, and you probably do, here are the instruction for changing the time between checks.
Simply open StayUP in the "Script Editor" and change the line:
property wait_time : 120 -- time to wait in seconds before checking again
to some time that you want. For instance if you wanted it to check all the applications every 20 seconds, the line would look like this:
property wait_time : 20 -- time to wait in seconds before checking again
Then, just save the application again and you are done.

Please tell me what the bugs are in this program and what you would like to see happen with it in the future. This script was not saved as run only, so you can check out how it works. I even remembered to add comments. My efforts right now include attempting to increase StayUP's functionality to include checking the status of individual document in addition to applications.
